Openoffice.org 3.0 Released!

by: Andrew Johnson

Today the long awaited OpenOffice.org 3.0 was released. This release brings many improvements-notably the addition of a native Mac OSX version. While I personally find OpenOffice.org to be a little behind the times in terms of interface when compared to Apple’s iWork or even Microsoft Office, Openoffice.org is still a very capable office suite with a very competitive price tag-free.

Running this version on my Macbook Pro seemed to produce better performance then any other version of Openoffice.org that I have ever run. Performance was always one of the things that bothered me most when running OpenOffice.org. It just took forever to start up. This new version feels much snappier.

If you are in need of a free office suite, or are just interested, check out OpenOffice.org.

Note: Due to overwhelming demand, the official OpenOffice.org servers are quite slow at the moment. This mirror seemed to work much better.
